Friends Legal Support Spina Bifida Charity

Friends Legal have hosted an office dress down day to raise money for a specialist spina bifida charity.

The fundraising is in memory of Anne Baxter, a brave woman who paved the way for pioneering spina bifida treatment.

Diagnosed with spina bifida in 1970, Anne was one of the very first patients to trial the CT scanner and volunteered to undertake many experimental operations and procedures. At the time, very little was known about the condition caused by a fault in the spinal column where vertebrae do not form completely.

Anne’s niece, Lesleyanne Lindsay, has said that she believes her aunts willingness to trial new procedures has greatly contributed to the care of spina bifida patients in Scotland. In memory of her aunt, Lesleyanne organised a fundraiser held in at Kirkintilloch Miners Welfare and Social Club. The event raised £1,200 with a raffle, mini-auction, dancing display and bingo.

We are proud to contribute to this great cause and to give much needed support to the charity helping those facing the life altering conditions spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
